In Madhatiya, a small tribal town just south of old Babylon, the old-fashioned structures of society have driven young Asmaa Muhyi Al-Shimari to become the first female police officer in her hometown. And not just any police officer: al-Shimari is the town’s lieutenant. In a rural area where
