Gaddafi under pressure as West tries to end stalemate

Western warplanes bombed Muammar Gaddafi's tanks and artillery in eastern Libya to try to break a battlefield stalemate and help rebels take the strategic town of Ajdabiyah as U.S. officials said the veteran Libyan leader was arming volunteers to stave off the onslaught.
